Foodie Cozies Dominated (and I loved it)

Between cookies, cake, tea, candy, ice cream, blueberries, and lemonade… January basically read like a snack table. Food-forward cozies were the perfect winter comfort pick.

Holiday cozies still hit in January

I’m officially calling it: Christmas cozies don’t expire on December 26th. Snowy settings + festive towns are still peak cozy in early January.

Animal sidekicks were everywhere (in the best way)

February’s reading plans lean heavily into comfort listening, food-centered cozies, and series I already trust—exactly the kind of reading rhythm I crave during the heart of winter. With shorter days and slower routines, I’m focusing on mysteries that feel immersive, familiar, and easy to sink into.

A mix of classic mystery elegance and modern cozy charm anchors the month. Death on the Nile brings timeless glamour and layered clue work, offering a slower, more atmospheric listening experience. Alongside it are small-town cozies filled with family tension, community drama, and emotionally grounded mysteries that feel personal without being heavy.

Food-forward stories are once again a major theme, from chocolate shops and dumpling houses to tearooms, bakeries, and fiber arts conferences complete with cookies and knitting. Several picks revolve around events gone wrong—Mother’s Day brunches, bridal showers, charity fundraisers, reunions, and conferences—creating that perfect cozy setup where secrets surface in public settings.

Bookish comfort also plays a strong role this month, with bookstore- and library-adjacent mysteries that balance warm community vibes with deeper emotional threads.
